About the Park

Our History

Founded in 1912, Elkridge Historical Society was created not only to protect and preserve both the histories of our towns creators and ancestors, but to as well keep safe the various religious affects discovered by our church Saint Perpetuas. We have worked closely with historical professionals at our local university, Chariott U, to legitemize and catalogue the artifacts entrusted to our care. This ensures that each document, relic, and testimonial is preserved according to the highest scholarly standards. Through archival restoration, oral history initiatives, and community outreach programs, the Society has sought to bridge the past with the present. This allows future generations to understand not only where we came from, but why our shared heritage matters.

In partnership with faculty and graduate researchers from Chariott U, we have developed detailed provenance records for the religious artifacts. These collaborative efforts have strengthened the credibility of our collections and positioned the Elkridge Historical Society as a trusted steward of regional history.

Beyond preservation, we are committed to education. Seasonal exhibitions, public lectures, and youth engagement workshops invite residents to explore Elkridge’s founding families, early industries, and evolving cultural traditions. By fostering dialogue between scholars and community members, we continue to ensure that the story of Elkridge remains both accurate and alive.

As we look toward the future, the Society remains dedicated to expanding our archives and welcoming new members who share our passion for history. Through collective effort, we honor our founders’ vision: to safeguard the memory of our town and celebrate the enduring spirit of its people.

What can we do for YOU?

We provide tours, volunteer oppurtunities to youth and adults alike starting at $13 per adult, $5 per child under 10 years of age. For students and local residents we offer grants and free archival walkthroughs. Come talk to one of our many historian's and enviormental scientists. Our offices and Muesuem at the Elkenwilde Inn are a great stop on your journey through our beautiful town!
